Great news: we have now built a new school which is fit for purpose for 227 pupils at Gendit School. However, sadly, and through no fault of their own, there are some children who are in danger of dropping out of school because their families are so desperately poor.

Progress with the school building (phase 1) has slowed slightly due to a contractor issue but we are moving forward again. We still hope to have four new classrooms up and running by the beginning of October which is when Ethiopian school starts a new school year.

Our four year project is now one year into its journey. We are still looking to raise £150,000 in order to take the school to pupils aged 14. We are therefore looking for large organisations interested in sponsoring us or individuals who feel able to contribute. If you know of any organisation or individual please let us know!

We stopped to collect the plaque, the banner, a giant loaf of bread and 100 bottles of Sprite(!)

The minibus was loaded with various representatives from the ministry of education, myself and the Link Ethiopia team - no chickens today! We set off to drive the 50km to Gendit for the Breaking of the Stone Ceremony…..
