A New Fence is Up! - October 2020

Despite the challenges of the past six months, a new fence has been built. This will hopefully keep animals out and children in. Our lovely new school will also be secure! Phase two of our five phase project has begun. Our next mission is to put up a gate and new school name sign. The re furbishing of four old classrooms, making of a sports field, construction of the guards house and the instalment of a water station is beginning from September 2020. Much easier when no kids around!

Due to the pandemic, the school has been closed since March but hopes to re- open in October. We will keep you posted. The pandemic has struck Ethiopia later than in Europe and so the effect is still unknown in terms of its effect-both short and longer term.

Not to be outdone, we have scheduled a new teacher training programme for when the school re opens its doors to over 230 children. I hope to go out again in May/June 2021 to see the progress we are making and offer more training/support.

We finally got charity status in August 2020 which is something else to celebrate and we can now apply for funding from larger organisations in order to complete phases 3-5.Watch this space!

If you know or hear of any organisation or individual willing to support with funding please do give us a shout-just like Tesco, every little helps. Our donation site is always open.To date we have received over £27,000 from friends and family-thank you to everyone who has and continues to help us build a dream.
